Much better definition and punch and overall more interesting, the 1000 sounds bland in comparison. I only have a cube connected right now, but the MPC2000 sounds way better to my ears. Warmer, dirtier, filtered in a classic way. The attack of the TR606BD is softened by the 1000 while the 2000 plays a crisp and fast attack, huge difference! also the low freq of the TR606 BD are better reproduced by the 1000, though having a "natural" low cut is a good thing. My conclusion for what I can tell is that the MPC1000 is brighter (easily noticable on the TR606 OHH), and can reach lower frequencies too. On the zip file you can find Original Goldbaby samples, goldbaby samples played by the mpc1000 and goldbaby samples played by the mpc2000. The samples where played at Full-Level, both machines had the Main Volumen on 100%, the stereo output connected to a stereo channel on a Mackie 1202 Mixer and the main output of the mixer into my Digidesign Mbox 2, recording in protools. I recorded some Goldbaby samples being triggered from both machines, and I want to share the results. Since the only way one can tell is by having it in your studio, I bought one. I read many posts here saying saying the sound of the 1000 was exactly the same as the 2000 and not. I have the chance to play with two Akai MPCs at the same time.
